Useful links

One of the purposes of this blog is to provide access to useful articles, blogs, links etc from others who are also on this missional journey. Forge is represented accross Australia, and Western Australia’s website includes a blog, and some articles and audio worth checking out. Now I must be honest – I have not read the articles, so if you do read one or two and wish to comment on them feel free to do that here, or email me on mountaindistrict@forge.org.au and we can post some of your thoughts.

Dangerous Stories

This is not to be missed.  I attended the first summit a couple of years ago and I can say confidently that I came away changed.  It was not my first introduction to thinking missionally, or to the emerging church in general, but it was pivotal in setting  course for my subsequent church journey.  I will never forget the last day.  I returned to Mount Dandenong high on ideas, and keen to see how what I had heard could be translated into practice.  For information about the speakers, click here, and here to sign up online.

The virus spreads

Alan Hirsch speaks often of the essence of what enables us to spread the gospel as something that should be contagious and spread like a virus. This is a wonderful analogy. While those of us taking a long hard look at how we live out church are seeking to be part of this epidemic, Alan himself is “catchy”. A quick google search shows Al’s mDNA popping up everywhere, including these blogs in Norway and Sweden. There is something very exciting about being part of a worldwide hunger for authentic expressions of what it is to follow Jesus.

Here’s the flier…

Alan Hirsch at Blarneys

Our first event for the year as Forge goes regional is a taster at Blarneys (250 Olinda Monbulk Road, Monbulk: ph. 9756 7045), February 25th, 7.00pm. Alan Hirsch will be speaking. This is a great opportunity to hear one of the world’s best thinkers on mission without having to drive into the city! Food – you can pay $5.00 for nibbly bits or order from the menu, and there are some good English beers on tap.

From little things big things grow

This blog will be a collection of stories, news and information about missional ventures in outer east Melbourne. Stay tuned.
